Veda Agama, Silpa Sastra Kalaathi Sadas (similar to the one conducted in Elayathankudi in the benign presence of Maha Swamigal). The sadas included debates on all the four Vedas by leading and eminent vedic pundits from all over India,. Cultural programmes such as, kathakali (Kerala) Burrakatha (Andhra), Saptharishi pooja by Kashi Viswanath Temple Chief priest, special vadhyams – Jenddai vadhyam, nadhaswaram, bharata natyams, gramiya dance programme, bommalattam etc. formed part of the Sadas programme.
H H Sri Sri Sankara Vijeyndra Saraswati Swamigal of Kanchi Kamakoti peetam visited the temple twice during the five day Sadas programme and rendered his Anugraha bhashanam.
Sri R Nagaswamy, Retired Director of Archeology and Sri M S Sivaramakrishnan, Retired Chief Commissioner of Income Tax and Appellate Tribunal Member coordinated the Sadas programme.
Adhi Rudra Maha Yagnam performed from 22nd July, 1999 to 1st August, 1999 was a remarkable event in the history of the temple. Over 150 learned Vedic Pundits drawn from different parts of India participated in this unique event. Srividya Dhureena Brahmasri Kumbakonam K Dinakaram was the Chief Acharya for that event. Over 15 nithyagnihotris headed by Sengalipuram Brahmasri Sundararama Vajapeyayaji performed the homam forming part of the Adhi Rudram.
During those 11 days programme, kamyartha homams were also performed for the welfare of all devotees.
His Holiness Sri Sri Jayendra Saraswati Swamigal and Sri Sankara Vijayendra Saraswati Swamigals of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam inaugurated the Adhi |Rudra Maha Yagnam and blessed the Maha yagnam all success. Srowtha Samrat, Aahithagni Musiri Brahmasri Anantharama Vajayapeyaji also parktook in the inaugural day rituals.
His Holiness Swami Paramarthanandaji and Badri Sankareacharya Samasthanam Sakadapuram Mutt Sri Sri Vidyabhinava Sri Sri Krishnananda Theertha Mahaswamigal also visited the temple during the Adhi Rudra Maha Yagnam and gave anugraha bhashanam.
The Adhi Rudra Maha Yagnam was a resounding success with total discipline, following all Vedic procedures without compromising on any issues. His Holiness Sri Kanchi Acharyals complimented the Adhi Rudra Committee for having conducted the Adhi Rudra Maha Yagnam in such a perfect manner.
Veda Agama sadas was conducted and over 30 persons who were serving His Holiness Sri Maha Swamigal for several years were invited to the temple irrespective of the position held in the mutt, and honoured.
All the above unique functions and homas were performed during the Aashada Mahotsavam every year under the guidance and athyaksham of Sri Vidya Rathnakara, Srividya Dureena Kumbakonam Brahmasri K Dinakara Sarma. These were performed for the first time in our temple.
Sri Jayendra Saraswati Swamigal’s peetarohana Swarna jayanthi celebrations in 2004. Kanabhishekam was performed by Sri Sri Sankara Vijayendra Sarswati Swamigal. Kalvaitha vaaram was conducted in which over 26 Vedic Pundits won in the test and all winners were presented with one souvenir gold besides cash awards. This programme was sponsored by Madurai Agrini Seetharaman, a philanthropists
This was yet another land mark event in the history of our temple. Over 60 Srividya Upasakas drawn from all over India participated in this Sampoorna Sahasra Chandi Homam. The special aspect of this homas was that 11 huge homa kundams were arranged and in each Homa Kundam, 11 Sri Vidya Upasakas did the homam for 11 days. Very large quantity of homa dravyams, sweets, sarees and special samithus related to 11 different forms of Sri Ambal were offered in the havan.
His Holiness Sri Jayendra Saraswati Swamigal of Kanchi Kamoti Peetam earlier visited the yaga sala, springled holy water in all the homa kundams and blessed the Homa Committee for the successful conduct of the homam.
120 Suvasini poojas, kanya poojas and vaduka pooja were performed during the 11 day event.
As a mark of accepting the divinity of the homam by Sri Ambal, on the concluding day of the Sampoorna Chandi homam, immediately after the poonahuti, the City was cooled down by a thunderous showers for over 4 hours.
